Circa 1888, The Wilcox on Melrose is arguably one of the most historic homes in Tryon. This home was the first built on the historic Melrose Avenue and the only pre-1900 structure remaining on Melrose. The home is warm, inviting and comfortable for any gathering.
Large well appointed bedrooms. Two individual rooms - The Lindsey and The Wilcox as well as the upstairs suite, which is three bedrooms and a small coffee room. Rear deck includes large sunken hot tub and a quiet respite from the town.
Breakfast features a selection of freshly prepared dishes as well as fresh fruits and locally made muffins, croissants, and bagels. Wine and cheese are provided in the afternoon. Coffee is always available in your choice of preparation, from k-cup to French Press, to pour-over.
A wonderful walking neighborhood with several churches down the street and just blocks from the main commercial part of Tryon. The Tryon Fine Arts Center across the street regularly has exhibits and performances both inside and out in their amphitheater. The front porch and 'tavern' are always open to locals, where local artists can periodically be found working on yet another masterpiece!
The Tryon International Equestrian Center is 13 miles from the Inn. Asheville and Greenville are each about 45 minutes with Biltmore Castle about 30 minutes away.
Each bedroom has an Alexa unit, large flat-screen TVs with access to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video and all premium movie channels.
A mesh Wi-Fi system provides excellent reception throughout the property.
At the Wilcox on Melrose, we are dog lovers with a Jack Russell and mini-labradoodle living here. We realize, however, that there are some dogs which are not appropriate for the inn. Dogs are permitted but must be friendly, well socialized, calm, house-trained, and approved in advance. Dogs must be crated (crates available) when guest is not on property with them. There is a $50 per stay/pet fee.
Renting the entire house for a private function can be discussed.
